Job Advocate

Status: Non-Exempt  

Reports to: Site Coordinator/ Case Manager

Position Summary:

To provide direct care and personal adjustment services for the individual participating in the Supported Employment Program. Direct care includes job coaching, skills training, assessment, counseling, intervention, and advocacy. Also, case management, documentation, and employer contacts are required along with other relevant services needed to maintain the employment of a Supported Employment participant. 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. High School Diploma 

Essential Functions:

  • Performs job-coaching duties for participants assigned to their caseload.

  • Collects data relevant to the participant’s program.

  • Responsive to case manager and supervision feedback.

  • Serves as a positive role model for the participant and employer while modeling appropriate work skills, behaviors, and social interactions.

  • Utilizes a variety of job coaching techniques to meet the participant and employer’s needs that includes: identification and analysis of work performed, aiding the participant in mastering job duties, insuring that work to be performed by the participant meets employer expectations, documentation of progress, noting stabilization and recommending transition to follow-along services.

  • Provides follow-along interventions to participants assigned to caseload

  • Interventions may include but are not limited to the following: counseling, advocacy, job coaching, skill training, assessment, and referral.

  • Uses a team approach to share information on participant progress or other relevant information with Liberty Employment Services management, Regional Center, and/or family members.

  • Participates in developing and reviewing the annual, bi-annual, and or quarterly supported employment service plan assigned to your caseload.

  • Participates in training to improve skills with the use of structured training techniques for teaching job performance skills, job related skills, and work behavior.

Additional Essential Functions:

-Provides supervision of program participants at work sites. -Responsible for documentation of services provided, case notes, notable occurrence(s), processing of time sheets, and attendance records to ensure compliance with federal, state, and agency regulations. -Participates in any agency required training. -Serves as a role model for Liberty Employment Services, Inc. staff promoting the agency mission, vision, values, and guiding principles. -Fosters agency and program wide cooperation and teamwork through use of positive and constructive communication techniques. -Ensures and complies with all Liberty Employment Services, Inc. policies and procedures -Supports the individuals we serve and maintains confidentiality as prescribed by agency policies, state, and federal laws. -Experience with job development and placement strategies, including: job analysis, task analyses, and job coaching. -Familiarity with job coaching support, instructional strategies, and developing on the job natural supports. -Experience with instruction in critical life need areas, with emphasis on employment readiness, job placement, and employment. -Experience with small group placement. -Direct (hands-on) experience with individuals with a wide range of intellectual and physical disabilities, mental illness, substance use, and severe challenges. -Experience with community-based instruction in critical life needs areas. -Experience with assisting individuals in the use of adaptive devices and communication aids. -Participates in any agency required training. 

Required Skills:

  • -Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • -Experience with CentralReach data collection and documentation desired

  • -Experience working with individuals with DD\ MI\ ID \ and substance use

  • -Proficient ability to communicate effectively orally and English writing, usage of grammar spelling, punctuations and vocabulary

  • -Ability to make effective presentations

  • -Knowledge of benefit counseling (SSI, SSDI, GR)

  • -Immediate access to a vehicle with working seat belts, valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and acceptable DMV record.

  • -Ability to travel throughout to local area to attend meetings, training, etc.

  • -Must be free of the communicable disease of tuberculosis and agree to an initial PPD testing

  • -CPR & First Aid \ CPI (crisis prevention intervention) is required within the first 30-60 days of employment.

Compensation:

Compensation is based upon level of education and experience.
